First sip hit me with that bitter coffee and bourbon warmth, then the vanilla crept in smooth as anything. The smoke lingers just enough to keep it interesting, and at 8.5% it’s a proper sipper. Felt like a fireside pour in a bottle.
Opened it on a rainy Friday and the smoke hits you right away before the sweet bourbon settles in. The coffee and cocoa nibs keep it grounded, not dessert-like at all. Poured dark as midnight and sipped slowly, exactly what an 8.5% sour should feel like.
The coffee and cocoa nibs hit you right up front, but that smoky bourbon vanilla finish lingers in the best way. Poured it over a big ice cube after dinner and it drank like a dessert, not a sour ale. 8.5% hides itself dangerously well.
